II. Legal Basis


The application of information and communication technology (ICT) has brought substantial benefits to users, such as saving time and costs, and enhancing transparency and accuracy in the operations of organizations. As a result, in recent years, there have been numerous resolutions, directives, projects, and action programs from the Central Government aimed at promoting the application of ICT.


The establishment of a Center for Information Technology to train and develop specialized IT skills for staff, employees, and learners is necessary and aligns with the policies of the Party and the State in general, and of the University in particular.


On June 16, 2014, the Center for Applied Information Technology at Ton Duc Thang University was officially established by Decision No. 758/2014/TĐT-QĐ of the President of Ton Duc Thang University.


III. Mission of the CAIT


To realize the strategic development plan of Ton Duc Thang University by providing training and development in information technology for staff, faculty, employees, and students. The aim is to expand training opportunities for learners as needed.
The Center has the following functions and duties:

Functions

  • Manage and oversee general IT courses according to MOS standards and short-term IT modules.
  • Organize and deliver MOS training for students, staff, faculty, and employees.
  • Implement short-term module training.
  • Develop curricula, materials, and software to support teaching of courses managed by the CAIT.
Duties
  • Advise the President on the implementation of MOS training for students.
  • Advise the President on collaboration with IIG, Microsoft, and other international partners to deliver courses and certifications of IT application modules meeting international standards.
  • Research and develop annual recruitment, training, and development plans for the CAIT’s teachers to ensure teaching quality.
  • Advise the President on upgrading IT application standards for staff, faculty, and employees.
  • Plan and manage the teaching of courses managed by the CAIT.
  • Develop TestSites and organize MOS certification exams as well as other certifications from IIG, Microsoft, and other international organizations.

  • Organize exchanges with other institutions regarding MOS teaching.

  • Select and train teams for annual MOS competitions.

  • Prepare and update Center materials annually to enhance teaching quality.

  • Collaborate internationally to expand training activities and issue international IT application certifications (IC3, ICDL, etc.) for those in need.

  • Continuously develop and collaborate with businesses to ensure sufficient IT application training according to international certification programs (by order or as requested by businesses).

  • Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Rector.
Authorities
    • Request cooperation from functional departments, faculties, and related divisions within the university to carry out the assigned tasks.

    • Manage and organize the assigned labor force proactively.
    • Propose the establishment or dissolution of specialized teams within the Center.
    • Appoint or dismiss team leaders.
    • Participate in decisions on rewards, discipline, promotions, demotions, recruitment, transfers, and terminations of staff and faculty within the Center.
